Policies

Deposit: A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to book a session and secure your preferred date and time.

Balance Due: Balances are due at the end of a session. We accept cash, PayPal, Apple Pay, Venmo, Zelle, and Cash App. Also corporate checks and ACH bank transfers.

Rescheduling: We understand, things come up. Please give 24 hours notice to reschedule. Less than 24 hours notice is considered a cancellation and your deposit is forfeited.

Rain Date: If a planned outdoor session must be cancelled due to weather, we will reschedule. Location and weather-related rescheduling are at the discretion of the photographer.

Late-Arrivals & No-Shows: Arrivals more than 45 minutes late, are considered a no-show, the session is cancelled and your deposit is forfeited. Similarly, if you don’t show at all, your session is cancelled and your deposit if forfeited.

Reshoots & Refunds: Reshoots, revisions or refunds only apply to technical failure or malfunctions that prevent us from delivering the agreed upon number of technically proficient images in clear focus.

Proofs: An edit of unretouched proofs will be sent via online gallery typically within 12 to 48 hours following your session.

Images: Typically clients are provided web-optimized files for digital uses. High-resolution files for printing are available upon request at no additional charge.

Value Proposition: You are purchasing J Heroun’s experience, expertise, and a license to use your images in a specific manner, typically for professional and/or personal use (such as dating profile).

Definition of Personal Use: Your images may be used on comp cards, hard copy headshots, your website, social media, casting network profiles, agency profile pages, show programs, marketing materials, employer and corporate websites, book jackets, publicity handout photos, etc. Your images may NOT be used in any venue where they are commercially repurposed for compensation or profit.

Retouching: Our standard premium retouching service includes color adjustment and/or color grading; exposure tweaking; stray hair removal; and correction for non-permanent skin marks and blemishes. We don’t alter, enhance or otherwise distort bodies or faces in any way, so please don't ask.

Makeup: If you choose a hair and/or makeup service, we recommend that you hire a qualified specialist experienced with still photography. We are happy to provide suggestions if you don’t have a preferred stylist. If you choose to do it yourself, please do your research as you’re 100% responsible for the results.

Who Can Attend: We encourage all clients to bring a friend, loved one, or colleague if they wish. All are welcome.

For Parents: A parent or guardian is required to be present for kids under 18 years of age. Duh.

Social Media: You’re welcome to post your final images to social media. We kindly ask that you don’t post screenshots from proofsheets because they are not yet optimized. That said, you are welcome to shoot and post video or stills from your session.

Standard Model Release: We reserve the right to use and publish all photographs for the purpose of studio promotion. However, we will honor requests to not publish images from your session if asked.

Indemnification and Liability: If a session is cancelled due to fire or casualty, labor strike, act of God, or other cause beyond our control or due to photographer’s illness or emergency, we’ll return your deposit without any further liability. This limitation of liability also applies in the event digital images are lost through camera or media malfunction, or otherwise lost or damaged without fault on our part. All talent and guardians release J Heroun Portrait Photography and all affiliated persons and all location owners of any liability, injury or damage that may happen during the photo sessions on location.
