Forty is whatever you make it. While it remains a marker along the arc of a lifetime that, for some, designates a fading of youth, for others, it signifies a new beginning—the emergence of the next, even richer phase of life.

And what a phase it is! Infused with confidence and the knowledge that can only come from life experience. Yet still youthful in body and spirit, ready to embrace all that life can offer. You know exactly who you are and what you’re capable of. Above all, turning 40 (and beyond) is a gift, something to extol and commemorate.

40 Over 40: Turning the Page

Following an extensive career in magazines, editorial-style concepts intuitively appeal to me. 40 Over 40 is like a massive magazine feature with short, compelling bios—plus (optional) video interviews documenting individual success stories. While anyone can book a session during the project’s duration for personal use, 40 subjects will ultimately be chosen for a dedicated website and potential publication in media like Boston Magazine or the Boston Globe. And, of course, the project will be amplified over social media.

Who’s eligible?

All proud women 40 years and over (no age limit) with a personal story of achievement, overcoming adversity, or inspiration relevant to women of all ages and persuasions. Open to all residents of greater Boston and New England.

What Does It Cost?

Sessions at our Allston studio are priced at $600, including camera-ready makeup (you, just better) and light hair grooming by The Purple Brush. Custom makeup requests beyond natural enhancement are available and priced on request. Those preferring to handle makeup themselves—or not at all—are welcome (priced-adjusted to $450 per session). Includes three outfit looks (from your wardrobe) and three lightly retouched (no body modifications) final hi-res images optimized for web and prints to round out the package. (Additional images available at $75 each. Archival prints and framing quoted per request.)

For location sessions of your choice within the Boston metro area, please add $150 for travel and setup. Sessions outside Route 128 are quoted based on distance. 

What If I Want a Portrait for Personal Use Only, Not Included in the Editorial Feature?

Absolutely your choice. Anyone can opt out of the feature or other exposure and covet your portraits privately accordingly. Incidentally, your images come granted with full rights transferred to you to use as you wish with one critical exception: Images may not be resold for commercial use such as advertising or stock photography. Individuals opting to be included in the editorial feature will be asked to sign a release clearly indicating their willing participation.
